Claude Schwesig's varied business and education background spans many years. After two years studying engineering, family finances required full-time employment and the next few years were spent in the textile sector in Montréal. Starting in ladies fashion merchandising and marketing, he moved into the field of personnel administration, and ended up as assistant to the comptroller of a large Canadian textile manufacturer. During this time, he attended evening university and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, Honors in Business Administration, from Sir George Williams University in Montréal.

This was followed by employment as Secretary-Treasurer of Sutton, Québec. Shortly thereafter, he attended the Université de Neuchâtel in Switzerland from which he received a graduate diploma in French Literature. While there, he traveled extensively throughout all of Europe and North Africa. Returning to Canada, he established his own practice, focusing on US/Canada tax situations. During that time, he was publicly elected as a municipal councilor, and served his town until moving to the United States.

After winding up his Canadian practice, Claude became associated with Herrick, Ltd., completed a number of courses at the University of Vermont in U.S. Taxation and Business Law, and subsequently received his CPA license in April 1987. Later that year, Claude became a co-owner of Herrick, Ltd. with John Limanek. A significant portion of Claude's practice is in Canada/US taxes his Canadian citizenship and French fluency make him a unique resource in this area. With his extensive business and management experience, Claude also has valuable insights into the needs of unusual and varied businesses, as well as individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Claude currently lives in Vermont. He was on the Board of Directors of the Vermont Society of CPAs, having completed a term as its President. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and a four-term past President of the Vermont Mozart Festival. He is also presently developing some seminars and lectures to be delivered nationally.
